Future musics

Hi All,

For the first time on this site - and in fact, for the first time in 2008 - I can say: it's time to head over to www.samurai.fm/2types/play to hear a new 2types show!

It has been a hectic start to the year and it was a hectic end to 2007 (think house move, 3 weeks voluntary work in Uganda, renovating new house from a rewire upwards etc etc), so it has been a little while, but I hope you'll think it was worth the wait... the new music was bursting to get out and I was desperate to play it so I can definitely say that it's good to be back. With no guest mix or interview to get in the way, it's 2 hours of me, me, me! To the music then...

Following the new 2types theme (let me know what you think of that!), first up is another track from the creators of one of my top tunes of 2007, K15 & LP. I believe plans for a long player are well under way so I can't wait to hear the results. Continuing from where I left off at the end of October 2007's show, there's a new track from Kissey Asplund on R2. The oddness of Clutchy Hopkins stands out in the crowd, as does the amazing voice of Brownswood's new star Jose James. Blue Note are 'Droppin Science' on us with a compilation of sampled tracks, including a cracker from Joe Williams - can you name the track that sampled it? There's sort of a clue (unintentionally!) in the title of the next track from Connie Price & the Keystones...

Tru Thoughts deliver a strong LP from Saravah Soul and keeping the funky feel is Dr Rubberfunk. A track out recently on Jus Listen Records that keeps going round in my head at the moment is Daco's 'Keep Callin' with fantastic vocals from Sarah Howard. Next up is a threesome from Universal Vibes including an exclusive preview of my forthcoming remix and tracks from labelmates Surra and Poussez. While I've been away, Broadcite delivered the excellent Acetate comp LP, so there's a track from that and some other top new bits including a speaker shredding remix of DJ Vadim.

Pretty much rounding off the show is a selection of tunes that I've been hammering on my iPod recently - some classics like Soul II Soul and The Beastie Boys but also some newness like the great tune from Katalyst feat Steve Spacek and something from the excellent Aaron Jerome.
