What does everyone think the purpose of a social network site like this is? Are we doing as much as we could be? Do you get what you want from this site? What would you like to see going on round here?
thanks for asking this Bopstar, since all the social networks are growing it's great to hear somebody checking about it's status and if it became what was expected (or better..)!
Personally I liked the network because of the proffesionalism and non-commercial identity, although you anounce a party and what's coming out from you as an artist or label or whatever, it feels like not overdone and more important interesting. Myspace for example looks like becoming a "new" advert campaign board and get's less interesting, but is still nice for hooking up.
Hope this network stays clean and interesting for meeting and checking out what's happening with each other and their business!
Greetings Wouda, After reading your reply I'd kindly ask do you have a commercial interest in the music business or are you only on here for purely social content?
Hey there Jawar, sorry for the extreme late reply, I kind of lost this discussion.. But to answer your question, yes, I do have a lot of commercial interest in the music business. Running the Dopeness Galore label in the Netherlands for 5 years now!
a proper calendar would be great. its never been done properly on other social networking sites and would be amazingly useful. i'm guessing most people on coopr8 have similar music interests so parties, radio shows, upcoming gigs, releases be great to have in one place.
Hey Russell, it's only about a year since you posted this, first time I'm seen the thread though. Do you mean like 1 calendar that everyone has access to? So you could see what's on where on a certain date? If so, great idea Russell, if you meant something else, then great idea me! :)
I think this site has potential. There are a lot of influential people here, which is a good thing. I'm here mostly for ideas on how best to get the music to more people stateside. But I feel that here stateside, the network is a bit disjointed and could use some improvements. I don't have the answers or the silver bullet on how best to make the unity happen, but the machinery, if you will, is best worked in unison. I'm really fortunate to receive music from quite a few of the best labels and producers out there, but I still sometimes have to struggle to get labels onboard and be willing to trust the radio show as a potential outlet to play music for a stateside audience.
In any event, I'm all about solutions. It's great to have an international roster of peeps here, as I've always viewed myself as a global citizen of the world. In the end, I'd like to see talk put into action, and action put forth to move mountains when we can.
I've been into this music for about ten years, and I still feel that the scene is in its infancy and still searching for its cohesive self.
I may have more thought soon, but those are what are on my mind in terms of hopes and wishes for this site.
Greetings V, I'm relatively new to the site and read your post. Would you tell me somethings about your radio program and what type of music do you play?
